Virat Kohli becomes first Indian to smash 40 international hundreds as Indian captain

Virat Kohli became only the fifth Indian batsman to score 250 in a Test innings after Virender Sehwag, Karun Nair, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid on the second day of the second Test match against South Africa at the Mumbai Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Virat Kohli scripted his name in the record books he scored a record seventh double hundred of his career, became the first Indian captain to score 250 plus in a single Test inning. The Indian skipper reached his seventh double century in his 81st Test and in the process surpassed Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag who both had scored six double hundreds in their stellar career. Kohli went past Bradman to become the player with most 150+ scores as Test captain. Bradman achieved the feat eight times in his career, Kohli did it nine times. Michael Clarke, Mahela Jayawardene, Brian Lara, and Graeme Smith are all tied at the third spot as they all achieved the milestone seven times. Virat Kohli becoming the fourth-fastest player to score 26 Test hundreds. He also equaled Ricky Ponting’s record of scoring 19 Test hundreds as captain.
